Filament Yarn for Textured Yarn Processing

1. Filament Yarn for Texture Yarn Processing

In order to bring out the most desirable properties of textured yarn, it is important to observe that most suitable raw yarn for whatever the use might has been chosen, and the most appropriate processing conditions have been established.

There is a number of considerations must be into Tetoron and nylon yarn, which makes them suitable, in particular for textured yarn processing.
The raw yarn for textured yarn processing must have the following characteristics:

1- It must have excellent thermo plasticity.
2- It must have especially high crimp stability.
3- It must have a high strength and abrasion resistance.
4- Appropriate oil agent must be used for any spinner or friction disc.
5- It must have a high uniformity with regard to fiber fineness, and dyeing ability.

Although there are several kinds of nylon filament yarns, the most generally used are nylon 6 and nylon 66.

Both nylon 6 and nylon 66 are roughly the same in terms of their product properties.

However, they differ considerably in thermal property; therefore they differ with regard to the optimum temperature required for heat setting.

The optimum temperature for dry heat set of nylon 66 is between 220º C and 230º C as against between 170º C and 190º C for nylon 6.

Advantages of the nylon 6 are the following:

a- Since the heat setting temperature is lower, the unit of electric power required for the twister can be reduced.
b- The upper limit of temperature for heat durability of oil agents is around 190º C. In case of nylon 66, however, the heat setting temperature exceeds over 190º C and evaporation of oil which may cause various troubles. This possibility is very small in case of nylon 6.
c- The temperature for dyeing nylon 6 is lower and yet its dyeing ability is good.
